FAQs

Working with us

What types of work do you take on?

We work on renovations, property conversions, kitchens, bathrooms, electrical work, plumbing and roofing for homes. Many projects combine several of these — tell us what you have in mind and we'll discuss whether it's work we can take on.

How soon can you start?

Availability changes throughout the year and depends on the size of the project. Tell us your preferred timing and we'll let you know what's realistic when we speak.

How long will my project take?

That depends on the scope, the property and any lead times for materials. We'll discuss expected timings once we understand the work, rather than giving a figure that might not apply.

Is your work certified?

Where work needs certification — for example, notifiable electrical work under the Building Regulations — we'll explain how it will be carried out and certified before work starts. Feel free to ask about anything specific to your project.

Do you handle planning permission and building regulations?

We can talk through whether your project is likely to need planning permission, building regulations approval or a party wall agreement. Decisions are made by the relevant authority or neighbouring owners, so no builder can guarantee an approval.

Can I stay in my home while work takes place?

Often, yes — it depends on the work and which rooms are affected. We'll discuss practical arrangements such as access, protection and the rooms you need to keep using before work begins.

Can I use the website for emergencies?

Online enquiries are not monitored around the clock, so please call rather than using a form for anything urgent. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. For a power cut, call 105.

Enquiries and quotations

How do I request a quotation?

Use the quote form on this website, send a message through the contact page, or call us on 07825 269542. We'll get in touch using your preferred contact method to discuss the work.

Can we talk before I request a formal quote?

Yes. Call us or send a short message and we'll arrange a time to talk through your project. Requesting a quote doesn't commit you to anything.

What information should I include in my enquiry?

The type of work, the property, the general location and your preferred timing are the most useful starting points. Photographs, measurements and any existing drawings help too, but they aren't essential.

What will the quotation include?

Your quotation will set out the proposed work, what's included, the assumptions it's based on and anything that's excluded, so it's clear what you're being asked to agree to.

How do payments and deposits work?

Payment arrangements are agreed for each project and will be set out clearly before work begins. Please ask if you'd like to discuss them while reviewing your quotation.

Coverage

Which areas do you cover?

We work across London and surrounding areas. Include your postcode or general area when you get in touch and we'll confirm whether your project is within our working area.

Renovations

Can you renovate just one room?

Yes — renovation enquiries range from a single room to a whole property. Tell us which rooms are involved and what you'd like to change.

Do I need planning permission for my renovation?

It depends on the property and the work. Many internal renovations don't need planning permission, but some changes need planning permission, building regulations approval or a party wall agreement. We can talk through what may apply, but decisions are made by the relevant authority.

Can I stay in my home during the work?

Often, yes, depending on the scope and which rooms are affected. We'll discuss practical arrangements — such as access, protection and which rooms you need to keep using — before work begins.

Conversions

Which types of conversion do you take on?

Tell us which space you have in mind — a loft, a garage or another part of the property — and we'll discuss whether it's work we can take on for your property.

Will my conversion need planning permission?

It depends on the property, the location and the proposal. Some conversions fall under permitted development; others need a planning application. Building regulations usually apply. Decisions are made by the relevant authority, so we can't guarantee an approval.

Do I need an architect or structural engineer?

Many conversions need drawings and structural calculations. If your project does, we'll explain what's needed before a detailed quotation can be prepared.

Kitchens

Can you fit a kitchen I've bought from a supplier?

Let us know where the kitchen is coming from and share the plan if you have one. We'll discuss what the installation would involve and what the quotation would cover.

Can the sink or hob be moved to a different wall?

Often, yes — but it usually means changes to pipework, drainage, electrics and extraction. We'll talk through what moving them would involve for your kitchen.

How long does a kitchen project take?

It depends on the scope, the condition of the room and product lead times. We'll discuss expected timings once we understand your project, rather than quoting a figure that might not apply.

Bathrooms

Can you supply the bathroom suite and tiles?

Let us know whether you've already chosen products or would like to discuss options. The quotation will make clear what is being supplied and by whom.

Can I keep using my home if it only has one bathroom?

Tell us if the bathroom is the only one in the property. We'll discuss how the work can be planned to keep disruption as manageable as possible.

Is electrical work in a bathroom treated differently?

Yes. Bathrooms are subject to specific electrical safety requirements, and some electrical work is notifiable under the Building Regulations. We'll explain how any electrical work in your bathroom would be handled.

Electrical

Is electrical work certified?

Notifiable electrical work must be certified under the Building Regulations. If your project includes notifiable work, we'll confirm how it will be carried out and certified before work starts.

Can electrical work be added to a kitchen or bathroom project?

Yes — electrical work is often part of a kitchen, bathroom or renovation. Planning it alongside the rest of the project helps avoid disruption later.

Can you help with an electrical emergency?

Our online enquiries are not monitored around the clock, so please don't use them for emergencies. For a power cut, call 105. If you think an electrical fault is dangerous, keep clear and contact an emergency electrician.

Plumbing

Do you work on boilers or gas appliances?

Gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer and isn't included in the plumbing described on our website. If your project involves gas, mention it in your enquiry.

Can you move radiators?

Radiator replacement and relocation are among the plumbing requirements we can discuss. Tell us which radiators and where you'd like them to go.

Can plumbing be done as part of a kitchen or bathroom project?

Yes — kitchen and bathroom projects nearly always involve plumbing, and it's planned as part of the same scope.

Roofing

Can you tell me what's wrong from a photograph?

Photographs help us understand the problem, but the cause of a leak isn't always where the water appears. An inspection is often needed before the work can be properly scoped.

Will I need scaffolding?

It depends on the building and the work. Many roofing jobs need scaffolding or other access equipment for safety. We'll explain the proposed access arrangements in the quotation.

How long will a roof repair last?

That depends on the roof, its materials and its overall condition. We'll discuss the condition of your roof once we've seen it, rather than making promises that might not apply.
